This is pretty cool... project a touch screen on any surface. Looks like it is using Prime Sense's technology presently found in the Kinects but with a projector to create a display.

Here is some of the research behind this. It also doesn't look like Microsoft research is the only guy on the block looking at this. 

Imagine in the near future this will shrink and be contained in our glasses. No need to carry a screen with us any more. 

Exciting times!!
